Shauna O’ Rourke
Sexual Health and Contraception Nurse
Shauna graduated from General Nursing in University College Cork, Ireland, in 2018. After qualifying, she worked as a Respiratory nurse in Cork University Hospital, and then moved to London where she worked in St Thomas’ Hospital in the same specialty before beginning her Sexual Health Nursing career in King’s College Hospital NHS Trust. She worked in this busy sexual health clinic for 2 years and gained valuable experience there, before moving to Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust for a Senior Sexual Health Nurse role, where she developed her contraception skills and got further experience in sexual health and safeguarding.
She started a full-time position with SH:24 and Fettle in 2022 as their specialist sexual health nurse for our Irish service, SH24.ie, but also works with our SH:24 UK and Fettle service.
She has a special interest in our Irish service, and works hard to ensure we provide Irish service users with access to high quality, accessible sexual health testing and treatment, just like our UK service users. Her job includes safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults, issuing results via telephone call including HIV, hepatitis B & hepatitis C, and assessing contraception orders, as well as her involvement in the running and development of our Irish service.
