Imiquimod 5% cream

Before using this medication, read this page and the instruction leaflet inside the box.

Tell your doctor that you’re using this if you need other medicines or treatment while taking this treatment.

Make sure you’ve told us about any allergies or medical conditions you have and any other medicines you take before you start this treatment.

Do not use this solution if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding.

Wash the solution off before having sex. This is especially important if your partner is pregnant, as the medication can be harmful to unborn babies.

This treatment can also damage condoms and affect how well they work or cause irritation to your partner’s skin.

How to use this cream

Apply a thin layer of the cream and leave it on for 6-10 hours. It might be easiest to do this at night.

After 6-10 hours, wash the area with mild soap and water.

Do this 3 times a week, on alternating days. For example, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Repeat this schedule for 4 months or until you can not see any signs of warts.

You might not need to use a full sachet of cream each time.

Do not apply this cream to any warts that are inside your urethra (urine tube), under your foreskin or inside the opening of the vagina or anus. Take care not to get the cream on your face or in your eyes.
