Should I stop taking progesterone after my period starts?

The progestogen only pill (also known as the ‘mini pill’) should be taken every day. Once you have finished one pack, you should start the next one the next day - you do not take a break between packs.

These pills need to be taken within the same 3- or 12-hour time period (depending on which type you are on) each day to be effective.

Your periods may stop or become lighter, irregular or more frequent, but you should continue to take the pill each day regardless of whether you are on your period or not.
