How to prevent pregnancy one week after unprotected sex?

It's not possible to prevent pregnancy, using the morning after pill, more than 5 days after unprotected sex. If you are concerned that you may be pregnant, you can do a home pregnancy test from the first day of a missed period, or if your periods are irregular, at least 21 days after unprotected sex.

If your pregnancy test is positive and you are not sure you want to be pregnant, you can discuss this with your GP, family planning clinic, or sexual health clinic.

If you have had unprotected sex within the last 5 days, you may be able to prevent a pregnancy by using emergency contraception.
