How long does trichomoniasis last in men?
Trichomoniasis is unlikely to go away without treatment. In rare cases, it may clear itself, but this is unlikely. So if you're diagnosed with trichomoniasis it's important to get treated with antibiotics, and take the full course with no missed pills. If treated successfully, the infection should clear after 7 days.
For some people, trichomoniasis may have no symptoms, so they may have it for quite a while and not know they have it. For some, untreated trichomoniasis may lead to more serious infections in the reproductive system.
If you are diagnosed with trichomoniasis, it's important that any current and recent sexual partners are tested and treated. If they are not, this increases the risk of reinfection. Do not have sex whilst you are on treatment (and have waited at least 7 days since starting treatment before resuming sex).
