Can you buy erection drugs online?

If you’re having problems with your erections, it can feel embarrassing to tell anyone about it. So you might feel tempted to look for treatment and medication by yourself.

However, it’s important to get medical advice before you try to self-treat because erection problems can be a sign of an underlying health condition.

If you are having any issues with erections, speak to your GP or someone at your local sexual health clinic. Although it might feel a bit awkward for you, doctors and nurses hear about different health problems all the time. They will not find it embarrassing to talk to you about your sex life and will be happy to help you. They might even be able to refer you to a specialist if it’s appropriate.

It is possible to buy medication for erectile dysfunction online. You need to be careful with this because some sites will sell counterfeit or fake medicines. These will not be regulated, so you cannot be sure what’s in them. They could cause unpleasant side effects and can be dangerous to your health. Or they may not be suitable for you. What works for one person, won’t necessarily work for someone else.

To stay safe, before you order any medication online check that:

  • the online medical service you use is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

  • all doctors are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)

  • any prescription medicines come from a pharmacy which is registered in the UK
