What is in the chlamydia self-test kit?
Depending on which test kit you order, for chlamydia screening you can take swab samples from your mouth, anus or vagina, or you will be asked to provide a urine sample. You’ll find an instruction card in your kit.
Vaginal swab
Use this to test for genital chlamydia. Put the soft tip of the swab about 2 inches into your vagina. Gently rotate the swab for 10-30 seconds, making sure it touches the wall of the vagina.
Urine sample
Use this to test for genital chlamydia. Pee into the folding peecanter and use the pipette to transfer urine into the sample tube.
Oral swab
Use this to test for chlamydia in your throat. Wipe the soft cotton swab at the back of your throat, 3 times on each side.
Rectal swab
Use this to test for chlamydia in your anus. Gently insert the soft cotton tip of the swab into your bottom (anus) and rotate it for about 10 seconds. Take care not to snap the swab.
Sample tubes and return box
It’s easy to return your samples safely. Put each sample in its protective tube and use the Freepost box to send your samples to our lab. We’ll test your sample for chlamydia and gonorrhoea at no extra cost.
