Can a pregnancy test detect an STI?

No, a pregnancy test does not test for sexually transmitted infections. Pregnancy tests check for the hormone HCG that's present in early pregnancy.

STI tests check for the bacteria or viruses that cause STIs, for example, HIV or chlamydia.
